DESIGN SERVICES 

We at Vision and Sound along with the help of other industry professionals have developed a Design Service Program which comes with an education on the latest home technologies available as well as an explanation on what most people are doing on similar caliber homes in your area.

This service is most effective when done concurrently to the final stages of the architecture phase, just before or during the time that your plans have been submitted to the city for approval and prior to you requesting quotes from General Contractors if you haven’t already selected a General Contractor earlier on or prior to the architectural phase.

The intention is to catch things in the architecture phase that could easily be revised on the plans, rather than later on, when the framing of the house is completed as it becomes very costly to re-frame and in some cases re- engineer certain elements of the building.

The design service also offers a System Design & Product Specifications report and a separate Budget report to help you understand the costs of the systems you desire which can be refined to an amount that you are comfortable with prior to us providing separate A/V, Security, Lighting Control and other Misc item Floor Plans.

We also offer a Custom Theater Design Package that is done in partnership with Cinematech who specializes in and has designed hundreds of Home Theaters around the world. www.mycinematech.com

All of these document will allow you to request comparable bids from multiple AV companies or GC’s similar to how the architectural plans are used to get bids on framing, plumbing, electrical, etc.

The design service will also minimize the amount of change orders during construction due to taking the time to figure out what it is that you really want and having the time to think about these things when you’re not under pressure to make decisions to keep up with the pace of the build.

THE PROCESS

It all starts with a meeting with one or both of the founders of Vision and Sound in our experience center where we like to first educate you on the low voltage systems that we will help you design and on the different technologies that are available for each of these systems. 


We also like to give you a quick demo of the Home Automation Control System that we typically recommend and a separate demo of our Theater in the event that you have intentions of building either a dedicated Media Room or Custom Theater in your home. This is done at no cost and typically takes 1 hour)


1. At the end of the education and demo, we will discuss the different design packages that we offer. 

   In the event that you decide to proceed with one or more of the packages, we will either schedule a separate meeting or if time permits we can continue the meeting to move onto the third step.


2. Discovery to determine what your specific requirements are for Music, TV’s, Security, etc. so that we can provide the Preliminary System Design & Product Specifications Document as well as the Preliminary Budget Report. 


   (This typically takes 1 - 2 hours depending on the size of the house and a few other factors)


3. After the discovery meeting, we will meet with our engineering department who will then start off by creating the System Design & Product Specifications Document which will then be used to create the Budget Report.

4. We will meet in person to review the above mentioned documents to ensure that you are comfortable with the budget. If any of the budgets need to be revised, we will email you the revised documents to you for approval.


5. Once the Budget is approved we will start creating 3 separate sets of Floor Plans.

   6.1. A/V Floorplans showing all TV, Speaker and Control Panel Locations

   6.2. Security Floorplans showing all Cameras and Alarm System Devices

   6.3. Misc. Items Floorplans showing Phone and Data jacks, Wireless Access Points, etc.


6. If you have selected the Full Engineered Design Package, Our engineering department will develop a whole suite of schematics showing how every device is wired to ensure that there are sufficient amplifier channels, network ports, etc. so that there are no surprises that could have been avoided.
